Not a Straight Line

Wow! Initially when I saw the image above, it made me chuckle.
Then I started to reflect.

I used to think  life might be a bit of an uphill climb, but if I worked hard, did the “right” things, then I would steadily make my way to . . . ?

What, exactly?
Security? “Success?” Happiness? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Turbulence Expected
Power Within

Hello friends!

🤣 It’s comical that I once thought of my life, my pathway forward, as a relatively straight line. I am disciplined, and I had a plan. 😅

In truth, if my life were charted out, it would look much more like the Reality drawing up above. Turns out, I’m not in charge of all things, nor do I have control. 😆 Life keeps coming, and as we move through, there are a huge variety of ups and downs.

Some situations are painful, difficult, full of frustration, anger, or grief.
Others are surprising, uncomfortable, disorienting, or jarring.
There are moments so beautiful, inspiring, enriching, and full of love . . . it boggles the mind and surpasses anything we could have imagined. 🥰

Maybe it’s because it’s eclipse season? Or, because of the stage of life I am currently in? Or, the pace of everything happening around us, all the time?

But, it seems reality is even more turbulent than the drawing. 🤪

I have no skills when it comes to illustration, but my Reality would feature some strong winds and a few funnel-like circles. 🤨

Of course, we do have power when it comes to our own pathway forward. No, we can’t control all that is happening around us, but we aren’t just picked up by a strong breeze and hurled around. 💨

Yes, at times it can feel that way, but we have immense power within.
Power to regulate ourselves.

We have the power within to soothe, release,  heal, mend, support, connect, dream, and thrive.

We can activate this power simply by pausing.
And breathing.

Join me!
  • Relax your shoulders.
  • Soften your tongue, your teeth, and your jaw.
  • Take 3-5 long, deep, even breaths. Try and soften all the way into your belly.

Ah, better already!

Now, slowly savor this poem:

a love note to my body

even when it was broken

for every answer you gave me in my gut

Finally, get into the habit of asking yourself:
“Does this support the life I am trying to create?”

Here’s to our pathway forward, whatever shape it may form! 🦋
