“We have to change ourselves in order to change the world.” ~ Grace Lee Boggs My dear friends,
How are you? I have been home from Europe for a week now, and what a week it has been. I hope each one of you is taking extra care of yourself. In moments of challenge, it's especially important we re-commit to staying attuned to what's happening within. The news, and the emotions, this past week have reinforced for me the deep importance of having a committed, daily practice. The places I was able to teach yoga classes in Italy were epic. But, here's the thing. Our spiritual practice, our commitment to living as our highest, best self, is not about being on an epic retreat. Our spiritual practice is the moment by moment act of being. In order to make good decisions about where to give my time and energy, I know I have to be clear. If I want to show up as my best self, and be present and open in the moment, I must gift myself pause and honor my need to rest. This is how and why yoga is so powerful and transformative. The physical postures and practices help me tune into my body. When I am connected to my body, then I can hear what is truly happening within. I can use my breath, and my meditation, to enhance clarity, reduce stress, and raise resiliency. A yoga practice moves well beyond the mat. Yoga is a breath by breath, moment by moment, endeavor. When we resource ourselves, then we can continue to serve as a resource for others. Please, stay committed to your practices. Stay committed to yourself. Stay committed to being a lighthouse in this world. Beaming light to you from my mat and beyond, M P.S. If you are curious about developing a powerful daily practice, let's connect. I'd love to support you along the way!
